The Alamo Area Resource Center joins with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in encouraging all people at very high risk for HIV, to consider PrEP. Meet with one of our doctors or other PrEP Navigator to learn whether PrEP is right for you. If it is, we can write and fill a prescription for it.
Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis or PrEP
We can help you decide and, if so, help you get it. PrEP is a medication that can help prevent HIV infection. It involves taking a daily pill called Descovy or Truvada which, if taken daily over a period of time, can prevent HIV from infecting healthy cells.
Post-Exposure Prophylaxis or PEP
PEP is a medication that has been shown to prevent HIV infection after exposure if you’re treated within 72 hours.
